Wormy Maple
Wormy maple is sourced from maple trees that were naturally affected by the ambrosia beetle. This tiny beetle creates small tunnels and short galleries—often called “cradles”—which appear as distinctive pin-sized holes in the wood. You’ll also notice subtle black and grey streaking around these markings, caused by a naturally occurring fungus introduced during the process.
These holes and streaks give wormy maple its one-of-a-kind character and rustic appeal, without compromising the wood’s strength or durability. All of our wormy maple is kiln-dried, ensuring the wood is completely free of insects and ready for long-lasting use.

Oak
Oak is harvested from oak trees and is made up of both sapwood and heartwood. The sapwood is typically a lighter brown in colour, while the heartwood ranges from warm pink to rich reddish-brown tones. Oak is known for its naturally coarse, open grain, which gives it more texture and character compared to maple.

Maple
Maple naturally contains both sapwood and heartwood. The sapwood is typically lighter in colour, with soft greyish-white tones, while the heartwood features warmer reddish hues. When both are used together, the result is a natural variation in colour, giving each piece a unique look. These tonal differences are a normal and desirable characteristic of maple and add to its natural beauty and character.

1/4 Cut Oak
Quarter sawn oak is produced from oak logs that are cut at a specific angle to enhance the wood’s natural characteristics. During this process, the log is quartered and positioned so the growth rings meet the blade at right angles. This cutting method results in a straighter, more uniform grain pattern and reveals the distinctive flake figure that quarter sawn oak is known for.

Cherry
Cherry features a striking range of natural tones, with lighter yellow and pink hues found in the sapwood and rich reddish-brown to deep red tones in the heartwood. Our cherry wood is crafted from the heartwood only and may naturally include subtle brown pith flecks and small gum pockets. Over time, cherry wood develops a deeper, richer colour, adding to its warmth and character as it ages.
